An animal control officer spotted a dog with half a nose roaming around on the streets one day. He didn’t think twice before rescuing the pooch. Bjarni had a family, but when they were contacted by the officer, they outright rejected him. They said they didn’t want the dog back, probably because of his appearance.
The pooch was then sent to a shelter. The shelter got in touch with Anne Graber to find out if she could help Bjarni. She is the founder of St. Francis’ Angels, a Texas-based animal rescue group. Anne was glad she could help and she said that she would do everything in her power to make the dog feel loved again.
Anne says Bjarni was having tough time eating and breathing because his nose was blanketing the sinus cavities. But aside from that, he is a normal dog who loves being around people.
Jason Balara, a vet from Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, then performed a surgery to fix Bjarni’s broken nose. His face was reconstructed and his nose was realigned. The poor dog can finally eat and breathe a bit more easily.
It is hoped that within two months, Bjarni will be adopted into his forever home. He will finally meet a family who will love him no matter how he looks.
Bjarni has been doing very well after his surgery. Take a look at his pictures below! He is adorable, isn’t he?
