Boogie Woggie rose to popularity in the late 1920s, but it has been around since the late 1800s. It was originally developed in African American communities in the 1870s; after which it gradually extended from piano, to piano duo and trio, guitar, big band, country and western music, and gospel too. Boogie Woogie is also connected to dancing.
The video below features a well-known Boogie Woogie composer and musician from Switzerland called Silvan Zingg. In the clip, Zingg perform his original composition, “Dancin’ The Boogie”. It was conducted at the LaRoquebrou Festival in August 7th, 2004 where Zingg was joined onstage by French Boogie Woogie dancers, William Mauvais and Maéva Truntzer. The pianist is simply amazing and the dancers are mind-blowing!
